Fabric Addiction
Hi, and welcome to my new updated website.
For those we do not know about me and what I do here at the Blackstone Valley Needle Arts Studio, here is the story: I have been involved in needle work and sewing since I was a child. My grandmothers taught me to sew, embroider and knit. I have loved to make things my entire life and hope to continue to spread my knowledge for as long as I have someone who wants to learn!!!!!!!!!
So when my children were very young, we decided to turn the 2 car garage here at my home into a teaching studio. I started with children's classes in my dining room while the construction took place in the basement. These original sewing gals are now in college. We really had a great time as they managed to poke their faces, bellies and fingers with needles. Not to mention sewing their projects to the table cloth and their jeans. There is lot of laughing involved in the gal's classes as they are just full of life. We still have a great time every Friday night. After the Studio was made inhabitable, I started quilting classes. Each week I would add something new, like tables, chairs, flooring etc. The students would come in and try to figure out the new items! In fact, I still try to have a little something new each week it can be as small as a magazine or fat quarter of fabric! The ladies love new stuff and I do too!!!! I still have many of the original quilters that started with me! We have had many years of sewing together and adventures that take us on the road.
They have stuck by me through it all and I am forever grateful to call them my friends. The best thing about the Studio is that we enjoy having new students come and sew with us. So I put together some basic quilting classes and added various techniques over the years. I have also added additional days and times that we meet too. In 2006, I opened my fabric shop, Madonna's Fabric Addiction Store. It was a great success for the year and a half that it was in operation. Unfortunately, the Mill that it was located in had a very bad fire. On the morning of July 21, 2007, I received a call to say that the Bernat mill was in flames. As soon as my family and I arrived at the scene, I knew that it was gone. My quilting friends and I were pretty upset about the loss of the store, as it was not just a store, it was a meeting place. It was a home away from home, in town!! Again, I got by with a lot of help from my friends. I moved the classes that I was holding at the Store back here to the Studio. We have been in sewing and quilting bliss ever since!
I hope that if you have ever thought that you might like to learn about sewing, embroidery work, quilting, etc. you consider attending some classes. We are a happy group that has the same hobby! Come and join the fun. Just call or send me an e-mail and I will hook you up to the right day and time that suits your schedule. My number is 508-278-7260 or madonnaterlizzi.@charter.net
