Primitive Doll making
In this class you can choose from a variety of doll patterns that I have. Dolls are made from muslin, stuffed with either polyfil or sawdust. Dresses are made from cotton homespun or reproduction fabric. Wool is also an option. Cotton lace can be used as trim and absorbs well. We will make the doll, embroider or draw her face, and construct her dress. The use of tea and coffee as an added aging process will be discussed.
Supplies: Muslin 1/2 yard, 1/2 dress fabric, embroidery floss, cotton lace (optional, but looks nice), polyfill Sewing machine, scissors, pins, embroidery needles and thread.
For March 26th, Woolworking class
We will work on a spring project. It is currently featured in the recent Create and Decorate magazine. It is a chick pulling a cart that has a Easter egg in it. It also has an embroidered saying on the bottom of it. This project can be geared for Spring wishes, that is up to the student.
Supplies: Beige cotton fabric,10"X12", 4"X4" yellow or gold wool, 2"X4" green wool, 2 1'2"X3 1/2" lavender or plaid (for the egg) of wool. Embroidery floss in matching colors, plus brown. Wonder under fusible web, 1 1/4" Button (for wheel). This piece can be coffee or tea dyed when complete. It can also be mounted into a frame or be made into a small wall hanging.
Fiber Arts
For these classes we will be using Art Quilts at Play by Jane Davila and Elin Waterston. Which is brand new and available at Ryco. We will explore the use of various paint, fusible web, various threads, paint sticks, stamps, foil, fabric scraps, angelina fibers, found objects. These techniques can be made into a book. Each month we will go over a section of the book and actually do the techniques. March will be the use of angelina fibers and the setting up of our book pages. I will be forwarding a more extensive list for this series of classes.
