Needle Arts Corner – Fall 2012 Issue!
Wow, what a crazy summer! We had a great trip to Lowell Quilt festival and enjoyed not only the show, but quite a few of the local museums in the Lowell area. Artisan galleries, The Whistler Museum and The N. E. Quilt Museum were a few of our stops on the shuttle bus that the festival provides. I also got a chance to experience a lecture and meet Mary and Mary Ann Fons. It was a great evening! I got a signed copy of Quilty magazine! How cool is that?! There is also a fantastic Civil War quilt display at the American Textile Museum going on until November 25, 2012. I will be heading up there on October 14, 2012 where they will be having a book signing by the guest curators, Madelyn Shaw and Lynne Zacek Bassett, of whom have written an accompanying book.!

I have also been frequently visiting the Worcester Art Museum over the summer as well. I went there with a couple of my friends, Abby and Hannah to view the museum’s permanent collection, we had a great time! Recently, Mary and I attended the opening party for WAM’s latest exhibit, Kennedy to Kent State. It was a great time with a band, food all in tune to the 1960’s. Please don’t miss this very touching exhibit.
I am also looking forward to another interesting evening in November as we are going to see Jimmy Webb at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. He is a very famous song writer, for those who are not familiar with his work. I hope that you too will have a chance to experience some of these interesting places in the Commonwealth as well! There is so much to see and do, get out there and take in something new!
So we have the fall season and all its glory. All I can think of is apples, pumpkins, corn stalks and mums! As you decorate your home for this very colorful season, you may think that a few quilted items would add a special touch. I have a couple of cute projects that can be made in a class or two, so they can be displayed in your home or given as a gift. Acorn wall hanging which can be hung on a door or wall, using heat sensitive adhesives and machine stitching, it is fun, easy and fast to make. I also have a great table runner that is perfect for beginners and can be made up with fabrics for any occasion. Again, fun, easy and fast, it also uses up lots of left over fabrics you may not know what to do with.
With the big holidays on the way and money tight, perhaps some homemade gifts to give this year would be the way to go. Ornaments, table runners, Christmas and Chanukah quilts all make lovely gifts. I have patterns for all occasions.
I have attached my current events page so you can check out what else is happening over the next few months. Be happy!
