Welcome to Needle Arts Corner!
Here at Blackstone Valley Needle Arts Studio, it is always stitching season! Recently, I have been working on some seasonal items like wall hangings and tea towels. They are great decorations for your home or a great gift for special friends and family. Tea towels can be decorated with embroidery and colorful bands of fabric for inspiration or seasonal display. Wall hangings can brighten any room, not just for a nook in your home, but for elderly friends in nursing homes and apartments. A favorite wall hanging of mine is for children’s rooms using chalk board fabric and a few strips of cotton for a cute and useful reminder board.
Ornaments are not just for Christmas anymore! Feather trees can be left up all year long, with different decorations added for seasonal fun. I have one that has seaside treasures on it! They are fun to collect and make! Ribbon can be added to found sea objects, and colored lights add brightness and style to a corner of your home.
Winter is time for mittens, hats and scarfs, why not whip up a matching set using polar fleece? It is easy to use and does not flay, so you do not need to finish off the edges. It is priced well at the stores now! Grab a pattern and give it a go!! Want to learn to knit? I will be having some beginner classes starting in January, it is just for beginners only!!! Hand embroidery is great fun and it is really portable! I have a million patterns that you can make into great projects, primitive, seaside, snowpeople, seasonal, and Redwork! I also teach classes on Silk Ribbon embroidery and Crazy Quilting!! A little bit of floss and cotton fabric can bring lots of fun to your life!
Quilting is another big favorite here! I have been cutting up excess fabric into 6” blocks and they are waiting to be sewn together. This is a fun and creative way to get your feet wet without a big investment. The blocks are free!!! The classes are reasonably priced, and you will meet lots of other gals that have the same new hobby as yourself. We also take trips to fabric shops and quilting expos, we really have a fun time together and we would love to have you join us. No sewing machine? You may use one of mine, until you pick out the right model for yourself.
