Needle Arts Corner
Welcome to Needle Arts Corner, I hope that my topic will inspire you to challenge yourself to use your own special creativity.

First, what is creativity? Are you born with it? Or do you need to cultivate it?
Merriam Webster defines it as the ability to create, and the quality of being creative.
If you are alive, you have the ability to create. Even with multiple disabilities, people ( and animals) are able to create beauty.
Do you need to be artistically inclined to enjoy paintings or music. No, of course not.
Do you need a degree to appreciate sunsets and want to capture them on canvas or with needle work/textiles, no.
Must you own all kinds of equipment to take a picture of a friend or landscape?
Recognizing beauty and wanting to capture that to memory is a wonderful thing.
Adding another level by trying to produce your own special picture, song, painting or quilt is when you start to bring out your own beautiful creativity.
Are We Born with Creativity?
I believe that everyone is born with creativity, in many cases, sadly it is not cultivated. Many people feel that if they have not tried something like music, sewing or painting by a certain age, then it is not in them. Think of all of the wonderful songs, books, paintings and quilts that have never been made with that sad mindset.
Learn to "Fly" with your creativity
What if you picked one of the above and ran with it? Just started with the desire to make something special, then found someone to help you with learning how to get the in’s and out’s of it down? Then would it be too late or did you open a door to a bright and beautiful world? Will you be a star at it right away, probably not. That is where you learn to cultivate your inborn talent and learn to fly with it.
Try Something New!
For many years, I have had all ages come here to my Studio to learn a new skill. A skill that has been in the back of their minds for many years and has laid dormant, until they made the decision to learn. Most take to stitching and quilting very quickly, the colors flow, the pride grows and they bloom like the wonderful flower that they are. There are no judgments here, just encouragement.
So think about what it is that you have been putting aside, telling yourself what you cannot do, or are not creative or talented enough to try out. You must brush all of that away and take the first step forward to finding a part of yourself that you did not know that you had. You will not regret it.
On a personal note:
I have been involved in stitching and sewing for many years. Do I know everything? Of course not! I have been meeting with some ladies to refine my hand embroidery skill, and I am amazed how much I have grown in that area. Painting: I had always admired watercolor paintings. The flow and color are just fantastic. I took lessons for a few years and still enjoy pulling out my paints and supplies to give it a go. Music: I have always wanted to play an instrument. I have tried guitar, mandolin, and piano. I still pick them up and pluck away at them. It is just for fun. All this means that you do not need to be an all star at everything, just try and see where it leads you.
Please contact me if you would like to start your stitching/textile journey, you won't be disappointed.
